GaitSmart employs wearable sensors to assess walking patterns, providing personalized exercise plans tailored to improve strength and balance. Participants undergo a 12-week programme with periodic assessments to monitor progress and adjust exercises accordingly .
The initiative has been rolled out in areas like Flitwick and is set to expand to Dunstable, offering accessible support without the need for GP appointments. This proactive approach underscores the council’s commitment to community health, aiming to empower residents to maintain independence and prevent falls through innovative, science-backed solutions .
